Follow Me Friday #25

So, Feature & Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee andAlisonCanRead. It's where you answer the weekly question and then link yourself and you go and check out other blogs of your interest, helping to support out endeavors as a community. Also, do it just because it's fun! :)

Q:  How do you handle a book you don't like?  Do you DNF or do you power through?

A:  I used to just power through, because I feel some whacked out sense of obligation to finish what I start, reading-wise anyways.  But I've gotten better about DNFing things that just aren't holding my attention, that I don't like or that are just poorly written.  If it's an ARC though, I always feel even worse than normal if I DNF, so I tend to torture myself all the way through on them.  It's why I'm SUPER careful about accepting review requests directly from an author.  I don't want to write bad reviews and would prefer to avoid it if possible! :)

What about you guys?  Do y'all power through like I tend to, or do you DNF and throw it to the wind?  I can't wait to read your answers and hope you have a great Friday!  Thanks so much for stopping by! :)  I do prefer Bloglovin' follows, but am also trying to build up my Facebook and Twitter followings (especially my Facebook page).  All the links are on the right sidebar! <3

  1. If it is an ARC from an author, then I'll ask them ahead of time if they want a review regardless of my feelings or only if I have some semi-positive things to say about it. If they say they want only a 3-5 star review and I hate the book, then I'll DNF it very fast with no regret. If the want any sort of review, then I'll force myself to finish it no matter how bad, although it might end up at the bottom of my pile a couple times.

  2. I used to power through that book and finish it no matter what. Although there is to many books on my TBR list, but still I want that chapter to be closed.

  3. Yeah I use to do the same as well. But now with a towering TBR pile plus a kindle one too, if a book doesn't hold my interest to some extent, then it gets DNF'd!

    Here's my Follow Friday

    Have a GREAT weekend!

  4. I need to make myself DNF books more often. Just like I need to make myself give out 1 stars more often!

  5. I used to be just like everyone else. There's just not enough time to keep trying to finish something I don't enjoy. Before I accept anything, though, I make a point of letting whoever approached me know that just because I said yes, doesn't mean I'm going to like the book. If I have a problem with it, I deal with said problem privately. :)

Thanks for stopping by my FF, Anna, and following. I've liked your FB page, followed via Bloglovin' and Twitter as well.

    Have a super Friday.

  7. I also feel really guilty about DNFing a book I'm giving by an author, publisher or Netgalley. So I tent to always finish them.

Thanks for stopping by my FF! New follower via Facebook, Twitter and Bloglovin'!

  8. THanks for the comment on my blog. I am now following via Bloglovin. I think that I am going to start your approach. I might stop requesting books. It's almost like I'm addicted to Netgalley!

  10. Usually I will give it 50-100 pages before I DNF if I'm not enjoying it. I used to power through but I no longer have the time and it turned reading into a chore. I'm picky about what I read thoughso only have 1 DNF so far!

  11. I feel the same way! I feel obligated to finish a book. Like, if I don't then I'm a quitter? Thanks for stopping by my blog I followed back via GFC :)

  12. I always feel like I have to finish a book. I need to start not caring because maybe I don't like it but someone else might. It maybe just not be the book for me.

Comments are much appreciated and I always read them with a smile on my face! :) While I appreciate the thought, this an award-free blog as well. I just don't have the time to keep up with it. Thank you for my smiles and please share your thoughts! Also, sorry for the Captcha, but I've been getting a lot of spam lately!
